Azerbaijan sayd it has foiled an Islamist plot to carry out a terrorist attack on state agencies and diplomatic missions in the capital, Baku.
Azerbaijan's National Security Ministry said that the militant group included an army lieutenant - Kamran Asadov - who had taken 20 hand grenades, a machine gun, four assault rifles and ammunition from his military unit in the Khanlar region for the attack.

Not mentioned by Western newservices like Associated Press, BBC, and Reuters however is the fact that the Azerbaijani government asserts, the attacks were being carried out by the Wahhabi-Salafist school of Islam -of which the Taliban and al Qaeda are the best known. Given Azerbaijan is Shiite and that  by the former Soviet definition "Wahhabis" are Sunni, It suggests that this cell might have been commissioned by a nearby Sunni state.
